#JVMS
There's JVMs written in rust, but a quick search turned up nothing on targeting JVMs with rust.

Sure it exists though.

Updated JOL heapdump-estimates for the current state of JDK and Lilliput. We use this often to estimate the potential savings from migrating services to newer JVMs, special heap modes, or to Lilliput.

Ha! Hilariously, once Lilliput 2 lands, the objects in 64-bit JVMs would take *less* space than in 32-bit JVMs. This is mostly because 32-bit headers would be able to encode compressed class ptrs straight into single mark+class header. 32-bit VMs could probably do this as well, if anybody cared.

Folks, if you are on a modern AArch64 machine (e.g. M4), using any sandboxes (e.g. Docker), and are seeing JVMs crashing with SIGILLs, this is likely related to bugs.openjdk.org/browse/JDK-8.... We are working on getting this fixed :)

Myth 1: Garbage Collection Stutter. Modern JVMs (ZGC, Shenandoah) have reduced "stop-the-world" pauses to sub-millisecond, making the stutter argument irrelevant for most real-time games.

Animal cafes - hot or not?

Exotic animal cafes provide
-limited space
-poor animal interaction oversight and controls
-inadequate feeding
-restricted behavioral opportunities
resulting in poor welfare. Even cat cafes have low welfare scores.

Don't go there.

Use jaz to launch your JVMs inside containers. Advanced tuning for most workloads.

With jaz running Spring PetClinic, we got 7% more throughput, 13% reduction in average latency, and improved P95 latency by 10%.

You need to have the image handling code as a separate process in its own sandbox, as Hot Cell does.

Though there are JVMs with sandboxes, something like that would probably fix it too.
