Today @juliabrim-edwards.bsky.social proposed a budget amendment I am proud to co-sponsor that further restores clinical services to our School Based Mental Health program. I appreciate the collaboration between our offices to honor all the community voices who have spoken for our youth & families.
The budget I proposed on April 24 recommended partial restoration of the School Based Mental Health program after full program elimination was recommended as part of the difficult decision-making process to propose a balanced budget during early conversations with the Health Department. Today, my colleague Commissioner Brim-Edwards proposed a budget amendment I am proud to co-sponsor that further restores clinical services. I appreciate the collaboration between our offices to honor all the community voices that have spoken out about the importance of this critical work to support our youth and families. While we seek support from our board to fund these services, we must continue our conversations with our partners in this work and use this next year to uncover ways to increase business rigor so that this program is more self-sustaining in times of financial uncertainty while also keeping services available to as many children as possible.
