Simon & Kirby were creative partners.

Lee & Kirby were creative collaborators, but Lee was the boss.

That's not the same thing.

Jack Kirby's "Jayne Davidson" and, inked by Jim Lee, as the indestructible Norma Richmond, the name she eventually got published under, from SILVER STAR.

I must admit, phrasing like this bugs me, because it suggests that Kirby had the same kind of relationship with Joe Simon as he did with Stan Lee.

He didn't. Simon was a business partner; they worked together as equals. Lee was Kirby's employer (or client); Kirby worked for Lee.

Jack Kirby’s name coming last in “Simon and Kirby” and “Lee and Kirby” absolutely did hurt Kirby, in that it led to people thinking he was the artist but not a writer, which was an inaccurate assumption.
Roy, I say this with all due respect to your contribution to Marvel and its characters over the years: please be quiet and go away

Been rereading some classic 60s Marvels, especially Lee-Kirby FF and Thor, and it's so inspiring watching the evolution of Kirby's craft and imagination, in both art and writing (and, yes, he was very much co-writer on those books).

DC and Marvel are natural enemies. Like Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Or Mort Weisinger and Jack Kirby. Or Roy Thomas and Jack Kirby. Or Jack Kirby and Jack Kirby. Damn Jack Kirby, ruining Kirby’s comics!

We very briefly looked at Kirby: Genesis in my Kirby and Lee class last year. #comicsteaching bsky.app/profile/gipp...
Oh and [SPOILER] for the ending: the image on the TV screen in the picture above was what the celestial beings were looking for all along at the beginning of the story — it was that "divine spark" that humanity possesses, AKA the creative impulse, or GOD.

Adding: Though with Kirby and Lee, Lee didn't simply send Kirby a synopsis. They largely either worked one up together or Kirby did most or all of it himself.
