#LLMs/#Generative
I agree with this but on an extended level where I feel like it's difficult to see honesty in people who use LLMs and Generative AI.

I either see people fully support it, or be sly about it to try and get away with using GenAI without being noticed.

All I ask is for people to be honest with me.

I am 100% against generative AI and LLMs. Even if the work is good (it often isn't) or the process was completely transparent (it never is) I have been watching the complete obsession with the technology materially destroying resources and especially affecting the poor and downtrodden the most.
October 10, 2026 at 4:53 PM
I'm going to agree and disagree with this, even as someone opposed to the hype and exploitative evil of LLMs/Generative "AI" etc.

The agreement is obvious.

Where I slightly disagree is that I think art is, in part, contained in the vision of the artist.

LLMs, and other forms of generative AI, can't do what they do without committing massive amounts of plagiarism, and continually. You're not "making" anything with it, you're telling a machine to take what other people made and push out some slurry from it.
October 10, 2026 at 6:38 AM
The bloody hypocrisy.
October 10, 2026 at 4:37 AM
And this kind of article also fails by bundling the kind of AI that's been around for a long, long time - GPS route suggestions, suspicious bank transactions - as if they're the same as LLMs and generative AI. Most of us who don't actively use AI programs know they're not one and the same thing.
October 10, 2026 at 2:32 AM
Depends what they mean, because machine learning can be fucking awesome, it's modern generative ai and LLMs that suck, but the terms get used interchangably a lot 😔
October 10, 2026 at 1:03 AM
Reads like a PR answer to me. Them saying "we're not using generative AI" is a bit bold when their original presentation talks about using LLMs to generate code. How is that not generative AI?

Also, from my experience, this is everywhere in game development now

The brain simulation is a 1:1 total neural copy of a brain.

None of these generative AI are active or in re-enforcement training and the real issue once you get to that level of consciousness is then turning it on and using it is cruelty. There is types of AI that give us this concern but not LLMs.
October 9, 2026 at 9:24 PM
As I said, the field of machine learning has advanced in the age of generative AI and LLMs. Yet I don't really subscribe to the notion that placing a pile of nonsense bullshit at the top of my search results is a compelling case use of generative AI.
October 9, 2026 at 8:19 PM
The Google Deepmind model in particular is built based on the same generative AI research as LLMs, which is what makes the "machine learning" distinction less relevant, because it's only when they applied the generative AI research to weather that they came up with something useful.
October 9, 2026 at 8:13 PM
These systems are but probabilistic pachinko machines. The research into LLMs advances the field, but machine learning has a history that predates generative AI by 80 years or more.

Case uses, such as in weather and radiology, have proven very useful.

Plagiarism machines however, are problematic.

I'm an investor in the junior mining industry, and NREDs whole sale pitch relies on widespread ignorance of the limitations of transformer LLMs (which some call AI). The premise being that LLMs can offer insights from drillcore data that escaped geologists.

Generative AI’s crippling and widespread failure to induce robust models of the world
LLM failures to reason, as documented in Apple’s Illusion of Thinking paper, are really only part of a much deeper problem

Note that I am only speaking LLMs and related generative models as they are developed and used today. I am not speaking about what is theoretically possible, about other forms of machine learning and "AI", or other possible techniques that can be used.
October 9, 2026 at 6:35 PM
We *cannot* tell from the way this disclosure is worded if it actually has LLM-style generative AI, or just the sort of procedural generation and machine learning that has been around since before LLMs and no-one really has an issue with. The game's Source of Madness, if you actually know.

our "no llms" rule has been there since January, but don't let that get in the way of your bullshit

keep in mind all I've asked for are the pre-Opus, pre-LLM notes, and they *still* refuse to provide those! I wonder why!

CLI tool for token counting gets a minor update. Still the best way to use tiktoken without pulling in a massive dependency. heavy python dependency.large python dependency.dependency. #opensource #opensource # machinelearning #opensource
ttok 0.4
Release: ttok 0.4 ttok is my CLI tool for counting tokens, using OpenAI's open source tiktoken library. It hasn't been in updated in a couple of years, but I finally fixed a Click warning, updated CI, and added a --list-models command to list available models. It works with uvx, so you can count tokens in anything like this: cat file.txt | uvx ttok Tags: projects, ai, openai, generative-ai, llms, tokenization

I've had a few accounts trying to interact with me that are either pro-Gen AI or actively producing it (and one that was "creating" NFTs)! Don't know why they think I'd be up for that but perhaps I haven't made it clear enough:
I hate Generative AI, LLMs, and other such software with a passion.

In the no generative AI camp, and no licensing first party user data or reviews to train LLMs camp. Our governance model is also specifically for all owners to vote on major issues, even if they own one share.

I am not a Luddite, there are legitimate use cases for machine learning including LLMs

But it is absolutely generative stuff I take issue with
