What is LTSS?
Excellent example of why LTSS needs to be a priority. Without doing so, people like DJ’s daughter and SO many others, will be left behind.
Something else to consider, we are all just one accident away from needing LTSS.

To add to the convo, not only kids and seniors. There are so many young adults- like my 27 year old daughter with MS- & middle aged persons who fall into the cracks.
This "admin" has highlighted just how scattered the systems are & how much work needs to be done to address it.

In no way can I support extending Medicare to children until we address LTSS. Children with disabilities will be screwed over tremendously, as will adults.

Include vision, dental, and hearing.
Begin extending to more people, starting with children.

Please take some time to learn about HCBS and LTSS. I was completely ignorant to these things and they are so so critical to those who receive these waivers and services.
The things that arent required by law are the first to lose funding when states are forced to choose how to fill funding gaps.

I am so scared. Especially as a caretaker for parents who are stroke survivors. My mom was left bed-bound after her major stroke in 2023. She’s currently on Long-Term Services and Supports (LTSS) and this program could be affected by cuts to Medicaid. I’m not sure what we would do afterwards 😭

If you're in the U.S., and you're a caregiver or a human being who is aging, Medicaid is a key lifeline. Long-term care/services are not covered under Medicare and many older adults spend down their assets before becoming eligible for Medicaid, which is the major payor for HCBS and LTSS.
