Not a single person has submitted a formal challenge for the leadership, so far the #2026MakerfieldByElection writ hasn't been moved, no candidates selected by #LabourParty, yet there is almost endless talk of possible #LabourLeadershipElection candidates, especially #AndyBurnham and #WesStreeting!

Events prove we need a proper socialist alternative to the status quo. Whatever you want to call them: 'centrist, Blairite, electable' - the Starmers & Nandys of this world are basically right-wing Tory-lite. Don't be fooled. Elect RLB and RB.

In 1921, #RamsayMacDonald defeated #JRClynes the incumbent leader in a #LabourLeadershipElection, the only time a sitting #LabourLeader has ever been removed that way, in 1914 Ramsay MacDonald opposed #LabourNEC policy to enter #WWI and resigned as leader.

Or leading #LabourParty into #GE2029 as #Leaderbyrightofsiccession, which happened to #ClementAttlee at #GE1935, #GeorgeLansbury refused to accept a #LabourNEC decision and resigned suddenly just as #GeneralElection was being called, wasn't time to organise a #LabourLeadershipElection.

Long-Bailey is the only presumed candidate whose name can be shoehorned into 7 Nation Army and that in and of itself ought to disqualify her. #LabourLeadershipElection
