All that remains of Tixall Hall is the Tudor gatehouse, now a LandmarkTrust property with a guestbook full of ghost stories. Perhaps one of them is Mary, Queen of Scots, imprisoned at the hall for two weeks whilst her rooms at Chartley were searched.
