had a ZX Spectrum from May '83, with the "impossible" fear of machine code lingering I had tinkered a lot with BASIC as well as messing around with games making programs - LaserBASIC, PAW, 3D Games Maker etc. I did like Ocean/Oasis' LaserBASIC... I should have tried LaserGenius - their assembler.
