Guarding the Gates of Knowledge
Automated tools can now produce plausible research papers with minimal effort. Publishers and volunteer archives rely on peer reviewers and software to detect these submissions. As newer models make fewer obvious errors, gatekeepers struggle to keep false scholarship out of the permanent record.

M. Seadle reviews “Knowledge, Reading and Culture: Studies in Information Practice” edited by M. Kelly, situating it in library and information science debates around knowledge organisation, reading practices, and cultural contexts. #LibraryScience #BookReview

Michael Seadle: This German-language article by Michael Seadle reviews the edited collection “Knowledge, Reading and Culture: Studies in Information Practice,” part of the series Current Topics in Library and Information Practice (De Gruyter, 2026). Seadle discusses the volume’s contributions to library and information science, especially how it addresses knowledge creation, reading as an information practice, and the cultural frameworks shaping both. He evaluates the range and quality of the included studies, considering their theoretical grounding, empirical methods, and relevance for practitioners. The review situates the book within ongoing debates on information behavior and the future of library services.

Litterature! My bachelor has the fancy name "Libraryscience and Knowledgecommunication" but litterature sadly wasnt a big part of my bachelor nor my master, even though *books* where the very reason for me to choose the way of a librarian.
