Pro tip: always double-check how your YouTube thumbnails are displayed.

#Apple #LiquidGlass #LiquidAss
YouTube thumbnail for Apple's new UI design "Liquid Glass". The play button partially obscures the design's name, so it reads "Liquid ass".

I know i am late to the criticism of liquidass, but it still boggles my mind that a trillion dollar company which is known for it's design shipped this.

LiquidAss reminds me of an old Zabriskie interview where he talked about going around the peloton asking riders if they get liquigas.

The corner masking and inconsistent radius between UI and hardware is probably the next most jarring thing in iPadOS 26, right behind #liquidass, I mean #LiquidGlass. WTH are you doing Apple?!

#LiquidGlass ...😒 The contrast of notifications is now so low that I can hardly distinguish them from the apps underneath. When I first saw this, I thought my #VSCode had gotten a new #Fantastical integration.

When a former Apple software engineer says "Liquid Glass sucks", you pay attention. Thank you for saying what we all think, Randy.

Does Apparency support macOS 26 (Tahoe)? Apparency works on macOS 26 (Tahoe), to the best of our knowledge — at least as well as anything works on Tahoe, that is. The app is opted out of “Liquid Glass” for the foreseeable future, however. We are not fans of the new design (to put it mildly) and are not enthusiastic about doing a lot of work to make the app worse. Our apologies if this inconsistency with other apps makes your macOS 26 experience more jarring. However, we'd posit that a design system that intentionally uses no fewer than three different window corner radii is simply not a design system that takes consistency seriously. Of course, if you find any non-Liquid Glass Adoption issues with Apparency, please do let us know. We freely admit that we've not spent as much time testing on Tahoe as we would normally do for a major OS update. Sadly, Apple's deteriorating corporate behavior has sapped much of our enthusiasm of late. https://www.mothersruin.com/software/Apparency/faq.html#tahoe-caveats

I don't super pay attention to the tech design world anymore and don't use App*e products much at all, so Jenn decided to show me just how bad Liquidass is and..wow. I may not be the best UI designer that existed, but I know I've never done THAT in my old job.
