And here's my writeup of Section 11 of the @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social. No stand out highlights but sometimes is all you need for an enjoyable walk is a long stretch of water to ramble by: nikmortimer.substack.com/p/london-loo... #LondonLoop

Back out on the @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social today, a gorgeous ramble from Hayes & Harlington to Uxbridge mostly along the Grand Union Canal. I was expecting to be enjoying some autumnal walks by now, not sweating through summer walks! #LondonLoop

I took my #fullspectrum 720nm Sony A7ii on a walk from Enfield Lock to Waltham Abbey. This is Turkey Brook on a stretch of the #LondonLoop.

After 12 years, 130 miles (including 14 today (5 hours continuous walking today by the way)), my London Loop is complete

I nearly missed the train at Purfleet as it took me 5 minutes to stand up from bench 😂

Its been a journey

Walking #LondonLoop Section 20, guided by @gojauntly.bsky.social, took me around and across several fields in a rural area that was part of Essex until 1965 and, frankly, should have stayed there. It is quite pretty but it is not London.

Great to be out today with the artist, Save The World, Kingston Ramblers and other volunteers cleaning and repairing the murals under the railway bridge at Malden Manor on Section 8 of the #LondonLoop - they’re such an asset to this section of the route and we love them!

And here's my write up on Section 10 of @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social, it's an unremarkable section with a couple of highlights but it is making me realise just how much I miss the hustle and bustle of the city. nikmortimer.substack.com/p/london-loo...? #LondonLoop

Moor Park, on the Metropolitan Line, a couple of weeks ago, the terminus of my #LondonLoop walk that started in Rickmansworth; the station is a sadly unloved, simple, minimalist, Modernist beauty,…

Chose a rainy day to tackle Section 10 of the @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social. Not much too this section really, mostly escaping the clutches of Heathrow Airport via the Grand Union Canal. Did enjoy getting to see the Speedbird logo at Hatton Cross though, made my inner aviation nerd happy. #LondonLoop

One of our volunteers, award-winning litter picker Neil Maitland-Walker, has been out with Staines Ramblers on Section 19 of the #LondonLoop, picking up litter - a great example of the work our volunteers do to keep our walking routes clean and tidy, and a great reminder to us all to leave no trace.

Our volunteers have erected a new post on the #LondonLoop near Banstead station (with golf club permission) where the route leaves the course and it wasn’t previously clear where to go. They also reinstated another post and did clearance work, mainly on the station link. Huge thanks to them all!

Today’s lovely #Parkrun at Nonsuch included a stretch of the lovely #LondonLoop @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social Section 7 - thanks to all the volunteers who make Parkun happen and who look after the LOOP.

Finally got around to writing up my thoughts of this very hot and sweaty ramble through Section 9 of the #LondonLoop. I really enjoyed this walk, especially Bushy Park and the Heathrow flight path @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social: open.substack.com/pub/nikmorti... Feel free to like, subscribe and share.

A 10 mile hike in 30c heat wasn’t my best idea but that’s Section 9 of the @ldnloop-capring.bsky.social completed. A gloriously sweaty ramble from Kingston to Hatton. As an aviation nerd getting to walk under the Heathrow flight path was an absolute treat. @gojauntly.bsky.social #LondonLoop.

I thought it'd be worthwhile revisiting what I'd written so far on my #LondonLoop (@ldnloop-capring.bsky.social) series to check it made sense. I'm chuffed with what I've written so far, each post tells a story and there's a satisfying arc starting to form.

30+ volunteers came to our annual project meeting & celebrated our 2025/26 Annual Report (online soon) this evening. We talked about: auditing the #GreenChainWalk for its 50th anniversary next year; litter -picking on our routes; station signage on the #CapitalRing; & stiles on the #LondonLoop

Jack's Lake yesterday. The head of Pymme's Brook, which you can follow down to Tottenham Hale where it joins the Lea. London LOOP also passes here, a favourite stretch of mine between Barnet Hadley and Cockfosters Trent Park

New posts post!
Our #LondonLoop and #CapitalRing project now has new stocks of posts to instal where we can get the permission / find means. Thanks to volunteers Keith and Jo for storing them in sheds and garages (north and south London stocks!) and to #Ramblers and LDWA London Group for funding.

Thank you to our volunteers for their sterling work - and to Inner London Ramblers, South Bank Ramblers and the London group of the LDWA for funding. It’s great to see all of these improvements making the #LondonLoop easier and more enjoyable for everyone to walk!

Volunteers installed 2 new posts on the #LondonLoop earlier this week - one in the Addington Hills adjoining the viewpoint, where previous one had disappeared - and the other in the nearby woods where existing one had rotted.
