Welcome to the latter half of August. Shorter days, hopefully cooler temperatures. Maybe even a little bit of much needed rain. My pre-work walks are at an end - sunrise is far too late now so I have had to switch to indoor activity which is not as picturesque. But hey ho. Exercise is exercise and it's all for the good of my health, right? Still have lots of pictures I can share with you all from the holiday yet, so there is that (and this).

You know what? There is a part of me that thinks I ought to be renaming this blog to Jen Med's Theatre Reviews. I think I've spent more time at the theatre this past couple of months than I have writing up, or even thinking about writing up, reviews. I am a terrible book blogger, woefully behind on write ups and find myself utterly lacking in inspiration for starting, or the words to epxress how, frankly, excellent books I have managed to read have made me feel. The heat this week hasn''t helped, neither has work which continues to be busy and brain draining, so the weekend trip to Manchester was very much needed, as were the tickets to see…

Okay. Who moved July? It can't be over already, surely? Or apparently it can. How quickly is this year vanishing, folks? Bad news is that my list of things to look forward to is rapidly diminshing. I have a couple of theatre trips booked, including a couple of days in the capital, but ither than that - meh. Looking at holiday options so hopefully they will be firmed up soon, but still. The one book I thought I might just still get to this year - Chiltern Kills - has sadly been cancelled so I think, book wise, I may well be done for 2026, which is a strange thing to say, as I really don't see me being able to make Bloody Scotland this year any way other than virtually.

Thank heaven for long weekends. I really needed it. After the brilliance of the previous week, this past one has been ... well, quite honestly a bit crappy. Start of the week Mandie started up with cold symptoms. No worries. We'd spent time together in London but I was okay. That didn't last. How are we in the final week of February? What is happening to this year? In some respects, I'm glad it is passing quickly as it means I am closer to my holiday. And the troubles that plagued the start of my year are now over and done with. I started in my new role on Monday and, while I have a lot to learn, it's a great team and if I am honest, a lot more relaxed than the old job.

Blimey. This month is racing away from us too, isn't it? Almost the middle of April. I've given up trying to figure out how, but like it or not it is true. I know I've been super busy at work this week which probably allows for some of my lack of comprehension of the passage of time, but hey. It is what it is.

And another week passes us by. This week has been a strange one. Sitting here in the UK, buried under blankets to stay warm without wasting copious amounts of energy, whilst watching the news in a mixture of shock and sadness seeing the devastation that is hitting other communities around the world, be it those caught up in conflicts not of their making, or the residents of LA who have, in many cases, lost everything.
