Lordy, lordy. May already. And Star Wars day too. Kind of feel like it should be my national day or something ... Can't believe we have reached this point in the year already and that, somehow, the blog turns ten later this very month. Ten! Ten years of my boring you (probably singular) reader(s) with my inane ramblings and overly long reviews. Who saw that coming? Not me. Apologies ... At least I entertained with puffin and bird pictures too, right?

You know what? There is a part of me that thinks I ought to be renaming this blog to Jen Med's Theatre Reviews. I think I've spent more time at the theatre this past couple of months than I have writing up, or even thinking about writing up, reviews. I am a terrible book blogger, woefully behind on write ups and find myself utterly lacking in inspiration for starting, or the words to epxress how, frankly, excellent books I have managed to read have made me feel. The heat this week hasn''t helped, neither has work which continues to be busy and brain draining, so the weekend trip to Manchester was very much needed, as were the tickets to see…

It's been a quiet one this week, book wise. I wish I could say the same about the day job but that's a different story and not one I need to bore you all with. Big changes ahead but also great opportunities and chances for personal development which can never be a bad thing, even at my rapidly advancing age. It has meant that blogging has taken a bit of a back seat and reading has been slow, all down to me and a lack of energy, not the books, which have been excellent.

Okay. So if anyone can explain to me how the heck we are already in February, that would be great. I mean … what happened? January passed in a blur and, if you happen to be reading this on Monday, I have had to take the day off to recover. Actually, it’s because I have a tonne of leave I have to use by the end of the financial year, but poTAYto poTAHto, right?

Well I survived the week. I am taking that as a positive. Spent half a day being assessed for my apprenticeship mid week which added far more stress to my life than I was expecting. It has meant that my concentration has been poor for a long time now, for that and numerous other reasons, so it is taking me quite some time to read books I know I would normally have devoured.

February is nearly over. How is that a thing? I mean, I’m happy about it. Holiday season looming and all that. But still. Hitting a bit of a manic patch at work, covering two jobs whilst recruitment continues for a colleagues well deserved retirement so no idea what that will do to my energy or concentration on reading but, hey. That is life.

And there we have it. We have passed the end of the 'week I didn't go to Harrogate' and I survived. I'm not convinced I have come away from t with less books than normal, but hey. Girl needs a way to unwind. Speaking of which, my 'unwind' trick this past week was a trip back up to my happy place, the Northumberland coast.
