It has taken twenty years for us to shepherd this project to near-completion. I am hopeful that Massachusetts’ new focus on multiuse path trail networks will help to accelerate other projects and link them together more quickly.

On snowy, soggy, salty days like today I prefer to rent a bike than deal with cleaning and maintaining my own. But after such a long winter I just need to get out for at least a little ride!

One of the things I like most about traveling through South Station is that I usually see at least one person I know amongst the throngs of people here (not shown in the photo). I often see one of the architects of the MassTrails planning group and today I saw a bike friend and neighbor.

We talked with MassDCR’s project manager for the Dorchester trail extension at the Mass Trails Conference. She said that while they had hoped to open the trail in late November, the hurricanes affected the railing supplier so they are late. The ribbon cutting remains scheduled for spring 2025.
