Not just historians, I had a mathematican friend who had an eternal hatred for Brown after one of his novels had public/private key encryption as a plot point, and Brown completely failed to understand how that worked.

FWIW, I don't count proofs that come out of a casuistry machine.
What I got from school is an ability to think precisely. Using LLM tools seems to be the opposite of that.

This reminds me of the Azimov story about the Mathematican doing long division without a calculator and it being so wonderful they had to demonstrate it before the President. Cant remember the name.
