Anyone trying to learn a new language, or really trying to learn anything that requires procedural knowledge (meaning making mistakes at first), this is a really great video.

How to learn/retain new vocab: Use them! For flashcards, put them in sentences, ideally with audio/pics if you can. Write/Journal with them. Chat with others/native speakers using them. Read materials with that type of vocab. Anything where you put them into action. :) 💪

Full disclosure: I may be out of my depth here, but I read this article as arguing for metacognitive (what they call "metalearning") planning processes including not just forward search but also precomputation and refinement of models of the world. Sound like metacognitive knowledge & skills, to me.
