There was an AI pragmatist push some years ago but that turned into rejectionism fast.
I generally like the idea of the metatribe, a try to push past ideology and take stances on individual issues which scatter your previous leanings all over the place.

Finally, introducing the metatribe, a concept i like very much and which ditches ideological positioning for pragmatic case-by-case evaluation. It's basically centrism re-invented.

“The postrationalists’ interest in religion and spirituality, says Leah Libresco Sargeant, can be likened to the wider metatribe interest in psychedelics: both are tools in the service of better thinking or optimized life perspective.”

Need to continue normalizing 'metatribe' (or some other equivalent) to describe the landscape beyond tpot
You know, where the real horrors hang out!

To be clear, I'm part of the network, just a different part of the network (and my definition of the network is broader - I think Tyler Alterman's metatribe is a better list)

yeah I'm not really tpot, I'm more in the vague metatribe space and tpot adjacent.
the fash thing annoys me though because it's the complete wrong direction for my brand of rwnj. Being called a rwnj isn't nearly as annoying.

https://twitter.com/TylerAlterman/status/1305265884504748032 I'd say TPOT is closer to the Brookiverse, Metatribe is broader.

tbh I vaguely think 'Metatribe' is more descriptive of where I sit than 'TPOT' (see: vibes) but that's even more confusing to folks.

See you in on Blueskynet, the bsky community organizing hub for DC/MD/VA!
I’m very excited @winterdust.bsky.social is taking the lead on this:
She has been organizing among the metatribe for over a decade, is universally respected by all who know her, and may be the most principled person I know.

It's going to be like this forever, you know. Or near as, til the eras turn or we get eaten by AGI (or both).
The metatribe network is too tight. I've met...probably over a hundred mutuals irl at this point. I have 35 coming to my house at the EOM.
Many of them have met 10-200+ mutuals.
