Still there as I post: a micromoth, only about 7mm across, with his/her shadowed double, cast on my sloped ceiling by the raking light of a reading lamp. The wings look as if of fanned feathers.

There is such exquisite beauty in our world. 🌎

Always stay alert… Walking past some ivy on a southeast London street. My subconscious discerns a micromoth fizzing. Turns out to be Clepsis dumicolana. Turns out there are a dozen. Relatively recent, ivy-feeding colonist. And new for me.

Everybody's favourite micromoth was on the wing at the Cold Harbour office this morning, with several beautifully patterned Alabonia geoffrella lekking above the dewy brambles #Geoff #TeamMoth @dorsetmoths.bsky.social

A chilly and v muddy wander in a wood on the eastern edge of Bedfordshire yesterday afternoon resulted in adding Ectoedemia quinquella to the site and the first records since the 1990s for 2 10km squares. Also a nice mine of Stigmella basiguttella all in fallen Oak leaves #TeamMoth

This morning I saw this pretty micromoth Chrysoclista linneella, seemingly a recent colonist (I can't see any Irish records before 2022).

Esperia sulphurella. I found this cute micromoth sitting on the bird bath in my front garden in June a few years ago. Hunmanby, North Yorkshire.

The rain brought a larger catch this morning. Three New-for-Garden moths included a New-for-Hectad Dotted Carpet. This was joined by two new tortricoids: 𝘗𝘴𝘦𝘶𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘨𝘺𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘻𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘸𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘢 and 𝘌𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘢 𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘭𝘭𝘢.

This micromoth from Ecuador (Struthoscelis semiotarsa) is the epitome of 'kawaii'. Large head with emerald green eyes, long antennae, short forelimbs, fancy hindlimbs, and fluff. It also moved in a very cute way. It cannot use the hindlegs for walking, so it drags them behind like a dragon's tail.

Ahh this place does make me chuckle when I'm feeling a bit shit.

Thanks all. 💖 Have a tiny furious grass veneer as a little treat.
