My Book Club microprint edition of the OED remains one of the BEST things I ever laid down money for. (Even if I have no idea where the magnifying glass in its case went, now that I really need it…) 😏
I'm a very serious academic, I tell myself as I use my OED access to see if they have an entry for the term rough trade.
PS, they do, and their first known usage is from 1927. I love the OED nerds so much.

I was once employed to maintain a microfilm collection and upkeep on microfilm, microfiche, and microprint machines.

Thirty years ago I spent a lot of time in the UBC library going through Parliamentary Papers on microprint cards like these. A formative research experience.

Yep, and if you check out pretty much any Cadbury's chocolate bar you'll find the word almost completely absent from the packaging, other than in microprint on the ingredients. They're prepping us for worsening the formula and hoping no one notices when it happens.

The first decade plus of my career was working with microfilm, microfiche, microprint, and microcard, plus maintaining the machines used to view and print the images. That was decades ago. I got really good at splicing and fixing microfilm reels with minimal viewing impact.

BNPL programs never present the full details - like the interest rate (150%/month), penalties (same), and other problems. Also, they strike when one is unable to read the program and analyze, they will have two seconds to read the equivalent of twenty pages of 0.5 pica microprint. Sound familiar?
