This matters because NETs are inflammatory and pro-clotting. Their sticky DNA–protein webs can stabilise microclots, making them harder to break down and disrupting microcirculation. 6/

1) 🇩🇪 Researchers from Munich tested microcirculation in the eyes of Long Covid patients.

They weren't interested in eyesight, but used the eye to study circulation and endothelial function in the brain. They call it a "accessible surrogate of cerebral microvascular function"

Erlangen researchers studied 150 people and found that Post-COVID patients showed impaired muscle deoxygenation during light exercise.

Fatigue was strongly linked to abnormal oxygen dynamics, hinting at disrupted microcirculation.

Did y’all know that COVID was found in clots in the coronary arteries?

Totally safe virus right… no problems living with this one at all…

SARS-COV-2 colonizes coronary thrombus and impairs heart microcirculation bed in asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 positive subjects with acute myocardial infarction - Critical Care
Background The viral load of asymptomatic SAR-COV-2 positive (ASAP) persons has been equal to that of symptomatic patients. On the other hand, there are no reports of ST-elevation myocardial infarctio...

Tongue-in-cheek study on why Rudolf's nose is red:

"Rudolph’s nose is red because it is richly supplied with red blood cells, comprises a highly dense microcirculation, and is anatomically and physiologically adapted for reindeer to carry out their flying duties for Santa Claus."

Just spent two incredible days at the 75th British Microcirculation and Vascular Biology Society (BMVBS) conference where I presented my poster on a novel lung endothelial GPCR shaping VEGF driven angiogenesis 🫁

Amazing science, inspiring people, and plenty of ideas to fuel my research 🧠🔥🧪

Fibrinaloid Microclots-Induced Microcirculation Dysfunction: Mechanism and Laser-Based Haemodynamic Validation
The microcirculation typically refers to those capillaries less than 100 μm in diameter. We have shown that blood can clot into an anomalous amyloid form, manifesting as microclots of typically 2–200 ...

A new review with
@resiapretorius.bsky.social on two more imaging methods for measuring effects of #fibrinaloid #microclots on the #microcirculation and endothelial damage. #TeamClots #pwLC #pwME preprints.org/manuscript/2.... Much pricier than #nailfold #capillaroscopy but impactful.

Wishing a happy 76th birthday to Brazilian physician Eliete Bouskela, whose research unveiled new ways of studying microcirculation to get at the bottom of what is happening when those systems go awry. We hope you have a good one, Dr. Bouskela!

"impaired microcirculation and increased arterial stiffness..." in CHILDREN.

COVID is not Mild™️. It was designated an RG-3 pathogen for a reason.

Keeping receipts so these kids can sue our a**es off when they are adults. Before they die far too young.
