#Microphoto
You need to learn what has been reality for 50 years, not to mention legal fact. Selfie or landscape or microphoto of a cell; it's all the same. Get over your naive protestations.

It was on January 15, 1885, when Vermont’s own Wilson “Snowflake” Bentley took his first successful microphoto of a single snowflake.

It's not #ThinSectionThursday yet, but I have something exciting! Can you guess this mineral? (hint: very hard because this habit is uncommon)

Weird rock. This is a sheared pegmatite from Elba.

It may look like a regular rock, but those plagioclase grains float in a groundmass of Li-mica (lepidolite) and there are many elbaite crystals around. I suspect the K-feldspar is what they call 'rubicline', A Rb-rich feldspar.

Was one of the best flights I ever had. The seats were cramped but surprisingly cozy, had my water, my M&Ms, mp3 player, and a notepad to write down my dumb thoughts. No turbulence at all, only sunshine, it was blissful.

Recrystallized quartz-rich aplite, now a mylonite. The magma that intruded the shear zone...

I'm late on posting today but that's okay! At least I got it done before I got in bed. 😅

A stretched amphibole grain (grunerite - yellow). The voids are filled by fibers of serpentine, most likely antigorite.

From the most geologically beautiful place in the world... Elba

#ThinSectionThursday I think I've fallen in love with the strain shadows generated around these spinel grains in a serpentinite from the Island of Gorgona
