Excellent news about #AlistairStrathern in #MidBeds. If #Labour won because many did groundwork to gotv but can't scale up to 80 seats, that's worth talking about. Not to take away from him that he was a great candidate - poise, fluency, judgement. But Lab has to scale up groundwork, starting now

Wasn't Blair's '97 victory as much about Tories staying at home as it was people switching to Labour? While not at the levels seen yesterday, I think we'll see a repeat. Reform robbed the Tories of a victory in MidBeds. So they could become kingmakers in another electoral pact.
