Even at the end of the year during crunch time, they know that the grade communicates their learning. With only a few more days of school, watching them stay focused on learning has been absolutely amazing to watch.

I'm pleased to announce that we found the hard boiled test egg that went missing on Thursday so the room won't be foul smelling* for Egg Drop Day tomorrow.

*Not MORE foul smelling than a post gym middle school classroom usually smells

I’m curious what other MS science teachers are doing with vocab. Is it just embedded into the curriculum/notes or do you have a separate focus on vocab? Do you spend time on vocab, before content, during, or after? What works best for Ss? All ideas welcomed #NGSS #middleschoolscience

While my 5th graders mined chocolate chips out of cookies today, I put on the dwarves in the the mine scene from Snow White.

Almost immediately one yells "Look! It's Mr.S and his friends!".

We celebrated Valentine's Day by dissecting pigs' hearts. A pig's heart is slightly larger than a human heart, so it is a great way to learn how our own heart works. Since it is a bit gory, it was an "opt-in" activity. #MiddleSchoolScience #PigHeart #ScienceTeacher
