I love torturing myself and realized having ~a whole new world~ means I have a new opportunity to make a third gender term for a parental figure.

Thanks! I've got to say I'm more open to the 'protector' kind of etymology since learning that Maltese borrowed missier (cognate with monsieur) for 'father'. Although they do also have Pa for 'dad'.
