If the Overton Paradox is correct, then the shift isn't a shift individual people experience during their lives, but rather that each generation is more liberal than the one before, so it *feels* like you're getting more conservative, while you're beliefs aren't actually changing.

I am not joking when I say that the r/moderatepolitics subreddit explicitly wrote their rules so that you can comment in support nazism, as long as you're polite about it.
really seems that to much of the legal academy, the worst thing you can be is rude. twisting history and the law to deprive millions of people of citizenship? well, as long as you’re polite about it!

I got into an argument with someone on r/moderatepolitics (which is alternately a fascinating and stupid place) about how a good journalistic code of ethics involves some commitment to democracy and justice, which does not imply neutrality per se. Obviously that went nowhere.
