oddly, years later I discovered one of those net labels was run by IGF cofounder Simon Carless (like after I'd already heard of him for games related stuff and nearly forgotten about monotonik entirely)

One cool fact about Elfmania is that it is the first credited work of Aleksi Eeben- an IDM/experimental electronica musician who, whilst he did do some other game scores, is mostly a non-game musician. He was a staple on Monotonik, an early netlabel that specialised in that sort of music.
