Deciding to let HOV 2+ drivers use the transit exit ramps in Montlake was so fucking dumb. Half of these drivers don't have two people in their car.

JUST ANNOUNCED: The bike and pedestrian "land bridge" over SR 520 in Montlake, one of the final elements of the overall Montlake highway lid project, will open to the public with an inaugural ride on Saturday, December 14 at 11am.

The Montlake Lid is the worst infrastructure project in Seattle since I-5.

Montlake “HOV” exit on the lid: every car but one is single‑occupant and illegally slowing down buses. If we’re not going to enforce traffic law, we should make this exit bus‑only.

I still think Tangletown Montlake and Madrona are better places for new homes to be built than in SoDo.

A short birding story. 🪶

This morning I was at Montlake Fill in Seattle when I passed a guy who was lighting up a massive joint. He stopped me.

"Hey man, did you see the thrasher?"

To be honest, I couldn't see shit. This was the scene. And thrashers shouldn't be within a thousand miles of here.

The bus I was on finally turned on to Montlake Blvd. 18 minutes after it exited 520, and 10 minutes after it dropped me off.

18 minutes to go 0.3 miles in an HOV lane.

'Since 1950, Montlake has experienced massive infrastructure changes, on the one hand, and virtually zero residential changes, on the other hand.'

montlake should be an entire car-light ecodistrict with homes for thousands.

instead it is full of $2M homes and a history of colonization & exclusion

Want to know what it would look like if progressives lived their stated values?

It would look like this:

"We are a rich enclave, we need to do our part. There is a clash between a lot of our neighbors’ image of themselves and reality of the wealth they have.”
