the modern usb drive is crying out for a persistent multiboot install
flash drives are so big for so cheap nowadays that it actually fucks me up. i don't want to put a single text file on a 128gb stick. it's too big. the file is going to get all rattled around and dinged up if i leave it in there by itself

I wrote a GBA multiboot binary packer. This allows loading executables faster, as well as - if you configure your toolchain accordingly - creating larger multiboot programs than 256 KiB, taking advantage of IWRAM and VRAM space.

The GBA had a function called multiboot which allowed you to download software over the link cable so you could hook up to 4 systems with a single cart and have players 2, 3, & 4 run the game over multiboot. They literally advertised it on the box

in case anyone wants to work GBA MultiBoot from a GameCube into your homebrew, I have an example of how to do it here. This includes two repos:
- Game Boy Advance, which can do whatever as long as it's under 256KB
- GameCube, which takes the GBA ROM and uploads to the GBA on boot via a link cable

Multiboot was also how pokemon distributions were done before mystery gift became the default way to do it, the multiboot program could read and interact with the save file on your cart and write pokemon data to an empty slot in your party

Gonna save my rant re: The Shit I Went Thru To Make This Work until next stream (it's a mouthful) but what I'll say for now is that my next step involves testing Grub for legacy Windows multiboot, because I'm pretty sure this will run 3.1 & WinXP no problem, and it'd be good to have access to both.

The biggest part of the plan though is to bring custom events to FRLG both via save backup modification (GB Operator/Emulator/GBxCart etc) and multiboot (Wii/GCN)
This would allow devs to make both new custom events for FRLG as well as port existing events that may have been made for RSE
