My dad would buy old consoles cheap a la Greg's list when I was going, so I have 2:
"Mystaria: Realms of Lore" is a How-not-to-do-a-tactics-game for the Sega Saturn.
"Fun 'n Games" for the 3D0 was one of the first times I ever recall glitching in video games.
I still love both.

OKAY LETS HAVE FUN. "Most critically acclaimed thing you hate" is like a free square, so lets hear THE CRITICALLY WORST GAME YOU LIKE. Bonus points if it's actually bad, but 'It's actually slept on' is fine.
Mine is probably Jurassic Park: Trespasser. Magical, shitty game.

Oh man, I owned Virtual Hydlide back in the day. Have fun 😂
You also might want to check out Mystaria Realms of Lore, which RPGamer described as "one of the worst translations ever typed up for a video game" and "early era polygon in all its dated glory. Everything is blocky, chunky, and clunky -"

Game day!! And it’s got me thinking of all the Saturn games I still need to play…
So here are a few contenders - play or pass?!?

Esse jogo é bom demais. Eu tentei jogar ele 5x, mas na quinta foi, se tornou um dos meus jogos favoritos, até comprei pro Switch também.
A expansão dele, a ilha do Dark Arisen, é fenomenal.
Me sinto jogando um D&D Shadow Over Mystaria em 3D ehehe

It came with the Saturn and I got a kick out of playing Clockwork Knights 2 and the baseball game over and over, plus the videos. Mystaria being one of those I was interested in but missed out.
Did you have this one?

Oddly enough, Fur Fighters was not in the list of 100 games I was going to talk about...
I think I was at #52. ^^;;
But Mystaria was at #20, so I could talk about that drunk, depressed undead ninja OC and the trilogy I never made as a teenager. ^^;;;

10 GOOD LESSER-KNOWN GAMES FROM SEGA
5. Blazing Heroes (1995)
Micro Cabin's JRPG feels like a Shining Force game, and it's clear why Sega wanted to publish it as a Saturn exclusive. It's definitely one for hardcore fans of the genre (it's infamous for really long battles), but it is a decent game!

Can't take credit for anything important at Sega - I was a QA tester in a dept of 150 testers. Biggest thing I can claim there was to warn them their JRPG being named Mystaria was certain to get them sued by TSR.
They ignored me, released it, got sued, and had to rerelease with a new name, lol.

Thanks to having a friend with a Saturn i have wild memories of Saturn RPGs though. Holy Ark was one of them, then this srpg called Mystaria, and also Albert Odyssey which is up there with Ark the Lad as far as all time namers go

Top ones are Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Saga, Fighters Megamix, Virtua Cop 1&2, Sega Rally, Soukyugurentai, Steep Slope Sliders, Shining Force 3 & The Holy Ark. Street Fighter Alpha 2 Guardian Heroes, Mystaria… list goes on but they’re the favourites which come to mind now.

Mystaria from the Levi DLC legit might be the most beautiful area in a 9 gen game. Watching it on a stream doesnt do it justice

For today's random game Saturday, it's the game so nice they named it thrice: Riglord Saga aka Mystaria the realms of lore aka Blazing Heroes. Perhaps the biggest mismatch of number of names to quality of game?? It's soundly mediocre but it was 1995 and the Saturn needed RPGs.
