In reality if DC statehood happened, NCPC would probably be elevated to a much bigger agency, and lose sway over lots of stuff in DC unless its enabling act and the height act are substantially amended.

This is fine. It’s based on who has federal facilities in the area. They normally defer to NCPC staff and DC officials.

As predicted, the SCOTUS ruling on the East Wing means Trump will plow full speed ahead on all of his other vanity projects regardless of what the NCPC or the courts say. Note also that the NCPC is lead by a close associate of Clarence Thomas. The Fix is in!

One argument for permanent fencing is that it will improve on the "unappealing aesthetics" of temporary barriers around Lafayette Park and the White House.
Such barriers were in use before Trump 2.0, but they've metastasized this year, as demonstrated in photos in the NCPC submission.
