It’s dodgy private providers that have rorted the system and rather than address the problem the gov has simply punished participants

Australians haven’t lost faith in the #NDIS, they’ve lost faith in the gov to act in any meaningful manner

Butler’s comments only confirm that #auspol
In an exclusive interview, Mark Butler describes fraud as a broader threat to the NDIS’s “social licence”. He says he is watching Australians lose faith in the $50 billion-a-year scheme.

The massive cuts to the NDIS won't fix the systemic fraud and inflated costs.

Instead, some of the most vulnerable members of the community will pay the price.

Also, sending huge amounts of love and care to Australians living with disabilities. The cuts to the NDIS are so scary. Disabled lives matter. Everyone should have the opportunity to live a meaningful and fulfilling life. #ndiscuts

This Labor Government is cutting services because they’re too cowardly to tax the superprofits of corporations, or stand up to Trump on AUKUS.

But the disability community is no punching bag - as you fight back, and the Greens will fight with you.

A quick update on the fight to stop Labor’s NDIS cuts: the Greens have delayed these cruel cuts by another 8 weeks as we work to stop them entirely.

More than 240,000 participants are expected to be shifted off the NDIS in the four years after new eligibility rules are introduced.
These people will be thrown back into depending on community, family & friends who don't have the resources to help.

She is an autistic adult, diagnosed level 2. She's never had paid work or any relationship outside of family. She also has a mild intellectual disability. Whether that will be factored in, I don't know, but I suspect it will be mostly those on the spectrum that will be kicked to the kerb. #NDIScuts

NDIS Funding Cuts Threaten Social Support for Disabled Youth
The article details the impact of potential National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) funding cuts on young people like Ella, who rely on programs such as genU's Gamer initiative to build social skills and confidence. Ella, a teenager with intellectual disabilities, finds joy in virtual gaming sessions with friends Jen and Tim, which provide critical social interaction. Her mother Debbie emphasizes the program's role in keeping Ella engaged and healthy, warning that cuts could isolate her. The Gamer program, part of broader NDIS community participation initiatives, faces scrutiny as a target for budget reductions. A Senate report proposes cutting 240,000 participants from the scheme over five years, raising fears about the displacement of support services to hospitals and mental health systems. Tim, an autistic participant with anxiety and depression, highlights how the program helps him manage stress and secure employment. The article underscores the human cost of policy decisions, illustrating how funding cuts could devastate vulnerable communities reliant on such programs for social inclusion.
