A couple of hours sea watching at Beadnell Point this afternoon didn't yield much in the way of seabird movement, but this Med Gull kept me entertained for an hour or so. #NEBirding

There are so many better images than this of the female Desert Wheatear from Whitburn last week, but here is my offering from Tuesday along with some info on the species history in the county. There has only ever been three records; one early Dec 1955, one in 2016 and this bird.

Red-breasted Flycatcher. Not popular with the Robins’ at Warkworth.

And hopefully not the last good bird of “autumn” as October comes to a sunny close.

A few birds arriving in off the sea at Newton Pool this morning, mainly thrushes but a few finches and Skylarks too. Best of the bunch was a nice Mealy Redpoll, later trapped and ringed. Also lurking was a Cetti's Warbler, seen 4 here now, all in late Oct/Nov.
