That's a lot of lipstick on the NZ recovery pig.

Brighter, stabilising, flattish, expected to consolidate after oh 1 month 🙄

Business confidence is lifting as brighter signals emerge across the economy, despite ongoing global risks. The labour market is stabilising, housing is set to remain flattish, mortgage rates are expected to consolidate after December’s repricing.

Folks, I found out today that because the Productivity Commission got disbanded, and no-one has rehired Richard Fabling to crank out the IDI-based tables of business numbers and employee counts that only he knows how to do, that we won't know anything about how the economy is doing after next year.
Social investment data driven blah blah KPIs are going to be problematic if you don't have the data that feeds into it, especially IDI stuff.

#NZpol From a few days ago: New modelling shows renewable electricity can meet NZ’s future demand – without importing gas

- doubts the logic of “imposing a levy on electricity to fund an LNG terminal”, “because New Zealand also has a goal to achieve 100% renewable electricity generation by 2030,”
New modelling shows renewable electricity can meet NZ’s future demand – without importing gas
New Zealand could meet its electricity needs through renewables and avoid power shortages during dry years by combining battery systems with pumped hydro schemes.

ANALYSIS: Nearly a year ago, Nicola Willis stood with Christopher Luxon and told New Zealanders not to listen to the “merchants of misery” in opposition, and said things were going to get better soon.
