The new bridge leading into the entrance of Nāhuku is complete. Nāhuku & loop trail are again open.

A must do adventure for us on #Hawaii 's #BigIsland was to walk through Nāhuku (Thurston Lava Tube) at night. It was wonderfully creepy & it felt like we'd been miniaturised & were flowing through the island's guts. My friends were a tad scared 🙀. Not me though!😉 #photography #picoftheday #travel 📷

Work to replace the deteriorating bridge into Nāhuku lava tube in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park will start Thursday, April 23. The lava tube will remain open, but entrance and exit will be on the east (or “exit”) end only.

The lava tube remains open, but all visitors should bring a flashlight or headlamp.
Watch for low ceilings & uneven footing along the trail.
