🌱🌵 #Caudiciform #Euphorbia #inermis has a small thornless #cactus-like base with annual branches that come and go with the wet/dry seasons. Growing here with Nananthus.

(timer/alarm strongly recommended)
The plant is a cross between Nananthus vittatus and Aloinopsis spathulata (don't ask) which explains the odd color combining the magenta blooms of the first and the yellow bloom of the latter. The flower starts to open in late afternoon before fully unfurling right before dusk. Use a timer or you'll go insane trying to catch it open (which lasts for less than an hour). Aloinopsis malherbei...difficult to catch open. This plant had a total of 7 buds, missed the first five. The bloom opens at dusk and is only open for less than an hour. The petals have a touch of cadmium yellow that darkens towards the tips. Neohenricia sibbettii. It smells like sugared coconut. The booms open after sundown, in the dark. Even the low and distant light from a PC monitor can prevent it from opening. Then you only have about half an hour to photograph it before the light forces it to close. smh.

Nananthus aloides..alive since 2017. Pink? Anacampseros vanthielli..2023 was the year when the seeding season was not ignored so we have seedlings. Ihlenfeldtia excavata. I've had this since 2018; one of those mesemb succulents that surprise you by not randomly dying. (It's not really random, usually someone--me--fucked up).

Or, even better, #ruschieae smh
A tray of mesembs. Or, more taxonomically accurate, Ruschieae. This is the "Pay! Attention!" tray. This time of year, the only rule that applies is "Individually, obsessively evaluate before watering". Nananthus vittatus x Aloinopsis spathulata, needing to be repotted.

Aloinopsis rubrolineataで種子を買ったんですけど、草体も細いし花が黄色くないはずなので、似たような何か…Nananthusの何かという感じがします😇

Love this rare succulent plant called Nananthus vittatus. I'll be sowing these rare seeds soon and will write about that as they grow.
