Sobbing as my neighbor is having a beautiful healthy American linden tree (aka basswood, Tilia Americana) removed this morning. For the past decade I've enjoyed the intoxicating fragrance of its flowers. I can't imagine what she's thinking in doing this. I'm heartbroken. #tree #nativetree #Ohio 😭😭😭

One of our summer-blooming trees is sourwood (Oxydendrum arboreum), native from north GA into the upper Coastal Plain and along the western edge. Beloved by bees, sourwood nectar makes wonderful honey for beekeepers willing to make the effort to collect it at the right time. (1/2) #nativeplants

The Hedderwick plantation at #BelhavenBay #EastLothian was largely flattened by #StormArwen in November 2021. The restructuring continues today - creating a much more open landscape ahead of replanting at some point - hopefully with an appropriate #nativetree mix.

I enjoy walking in forested areas & through trees, I have enjoyed looking at & through this unusual tree species, the Pandanus in the last month.

It's like a cabbage tree on top but with spectacular aerial stilt roots that sprout about a metre above ground.

We’re off to buy a #ChristmasTree today! 5-6 million trees are harvested in #NC each year. They take about #12 years to grow during which they provide shelter for wildlife (acting as temporary wildlife sanctuaries), and producing oxygen! Then can be #composted at end of use.
