Has any ideology more quickly and comprehensively abandoned its ostensible principles than Libertarianism? Virtually every libertarian I know has gone full, devoted MAGA. Just totally rolled over for fascism instantly.

Just heard Bill Kristol, former chief of staff for Dan Quayle, say he thinks ICE should be defunded and that the entire DHS should probably be disbanded, which puts him to the left of maybe the majority of elected Democrats. Truly wild times we’re living in.

This was something @theophite.bsky.social said but contemporary liberalism should embrace its violent and forceful legacy because fewer people would call them soy if regularly reminded that the "effete PC wine-sipping bisexuals" invented a portable sun the last time someone fucked with them
My hot take is that it's because a lot of politically-active people between the ages of 25 and 40 grew up being bombarded with messages that liberals were effete PC wine-sipping bisexuals who didn't have the manly courage to stand up to criminals/terrorists. The villains changed; the priors remain.
