#NetFX
Wanna netfx and chill or Yout and get out?

Finally watching The Residence!

I have “access” to some netfx shows right now and I’m binging them while it lasts 😬

There's a Chinese movie called: "Marry My Dead Body". Is a drama/comedy. Leaves you with positive feels. I enjoyed it enough to watch a few times. Netfx

I watched a few episodes of leviathan before work yesterday (hooray for finally getting my dad's netfx info) and WHEW the cliffhangers on each episode are so brutal!!!!!

no, I mean for netfx and standard, unify on a specific "canonical" version, net472 and netstandard2.0. No changes for Core.

my only recommendation is to target net472 instead of net48 as that's the "canonical" one for netfx, otherwise I agree with the rest of tfms. But it doesn't matter much honestly.

Modern would be RandomNumberGenerator.GetInt32. Sadly, nothing for netfx.

Ah okay, didn't realize you need netfx. Best bet is likely bouncycastle then

Pretty sure we've had that setting on .NETFramework as well. Initially one of the differences between core and NETFX was core was server GC by default but that changed over time.

I have to laugh! I turned Monster on - Netfx. To distract. I just can't with this! 😨

I even wish netstandard2.1 wasn't a thing. In my ideal world netstandard2.0 is the one and only and all other ones should disappear and neither be used nor supported.

I recommend everyone only use netstandard2.0 and forget all others existed.

Similarly I hope net472 is the only "canonical" netfx

Si juntais "Alfred Hitchcock presents", "Sobrenatural" y "El club de los 5" os queda "El club de la medianoche" en Netfx.

Os aviso q se ven los 10 epis del tirón (o casi).

friend I love winforms so much if it was actually crossplatform i would not even bother using wpf

literally the only thing stopping me rn is that i don't think wf from non .netfx can run on linux
November 15, 2024 at 5:25 PM
That I would put in a #if NETFX so the code automatically disables when we drop that target 😂

💡 Maintaining a .NET library with support for decrepit targets like .NET Standard and .NET Framework?

Use one of these polyfill packages to make your life easier:
— github.com/Sergio0694/P...
— github.com/SimonCropp/P...
— github.com/Tyrrrz/PolyS...

Or better: drop netfx support!

I tend to target the latest dotnet LTS, and depending on the library and context multi-target for netfx 4.8 too.

netstandard should die and be forgotten 😈

this needs to be fixed in school and uni

on discord we see a lot of student doing school project with teacher giving them netfx code based, down to webforms

staff refuse to update "my courses works, why would i change"

Ok nvm I stand corrected, but it being on maintenance mode seems to be a fair assessment e.g. still on netfx, changes being quite “surgical”/“piecemeal”. OSS is hard, and its a shame MS isn’t putting more effort into the external community project powering a service they use, depend upon and promote

If you're stuck on netfx, here is a guide on how to implement async across ASP.NET (WebForms *aspx, Web Services *asmx, Http Handlers *ashx)

Sentry still has a growing number of those folks adoption the product. It would be refreshing to see dotnet framework adoption decrease but, not surprisingly, lots of live apps out there still in netfx. .NET Core though is several orders of magnitude ahead so future is exciting for us.

Maybe one day our minimum netfx version would mean we could just target netstandard2.0 and drop net4x, but that’s a different conversation.
