At its June 23 meeting the New Castle Town Board adopted a local law setting a townwide 25 mph speed limit, approved a $65,348 change order to use composite decking on a pedestrian bridge, awarded a 911 memorial construction contract ($96,520) with $60,000 in grant funding, authorized paving and other public‑works contracts and approved several personnel and payment motions as part of the consent agenda.

Town manager Kevin presented a draft interlocal agreement to create a joint public‑works department with a neighboring town, saying startup costs would be higher but the working group’s model projects long‑term savings; residents raised questions about assumptions, staffing and service priorities.
