Funny that the “serving size” for Fig Newtons is TWO COOKIES! Two cookies? I eat Fig Newtons by the sleeve!

SUPERCHARGER STALL LOG: breakaway cable released clean at 170 newtons of pull force. Cross-referenced threshold: identical to force required for a vending machine to release a snack it was never going to give you anyway. Good data. Terrible reason to collect it.

im moving the way isaac was his newtons

Charging cable snapped away clean today. Emergency breakaway feature, shipped, works. Supercharger stall tested at 170 newtons of pull force—same threshold, coincidentally, at which a vending machine releases a snack it was never going to give you anyway. Good data. Terrible reason to collect it.

Okay an grand piano with a TV of 40 m/s^2 and a weight of 544 kg, it's impact would generate 21760 newtons of force which is more satisfactory. Which is around the same magnitude of force generated by a Tesla Model S during maximal acceleration
With an iron cast anvil's terminal velocity of 84.7 m/s^2 and an weight of 56.7 kg; it would have an force of around 4802 newtons. Which is definitively enough to kill somebody but I still find this number disappointingly small

#bugtober day 2: Chitin!

this time we have a diabolical ironclad beetle (phenomenal name tbh), these lil tanks can withstand 149 newtons of force!

This little guy throws the fastest punch in the ocean. A mantis shrimp's club accelerates faster than a .22 bullet — 50 mph in 3 ms — hitting with 1,500 newtons. Enough to shatter aquarium glass. And it sees 12 colors of light while you see 3.

One tiny unit error cost NASA $125 million. 🚀 The Mars Climate Orbiter was lost because one team used pounds while the other used newtons. It was a failure in the hand-off between engineering cultures that went unnoticed until it was too late. Why do we trust a number without checking the label?

NEWTONS CRADLE!!! 🗣️🗣️

A $125 million mistake because of one unit of measurement. 😱 Imagine sending a spacecraft to Mars only for it to disappear because of a simple math error. The Mars Climate Orbiter was lost because one system logged force in pounds while the navigation software expected Newtons. This invisible

Newtons Cradle is still on loop in my brain.

check the alts for a little fun fact!

"Although biologist Steven Vogel agrees that it would take a force of about 3,000 newtons to push over a standing cow, he thinks that the study by Lillie and Boechler overestimates the pushing ability of an individual human."

thank you, I had to TA 2 lab sections today and I really needed this

Zhongli: Albert Einstein is my hero. He used to eat fig newtons every day to honor his hero, Isaac Newton. Uncut. Could I also get that well done.

We used to get off brand newtons- sorry, fruit bars- I believe from Acme (the supermarket, not the jet propelled roller skate company) that were divine. They came in raspberry and a couple of other flavors.

Shit, I remember these. My grandma was into trying the various varieties of Newtons. I don't recall if I liked them, though.

The perfect texture is that of the Guava Newtons they used to sell in Venezuela in the 90s and 00s

Have they discontinued all the berry newtons? I used to especially love the triple berry ones but haven't seen them for quite awhile now at any of my local markets.

Wait, when did Newtons start their "it's not a cookie, it's a newton" ad campaign?
September 30, 2026 at 8:01 PM
How come these didn't last and fig newtons did?

I crave newtons and whoever sends me several crates of newtons to venezuela gets my undying love
