Book cover Title: Secret Seduction Author: Nikki Ash, USA Today bestselling author Performed by: Theo Sinclair and Leanne Woodward *****Book review****** >Wildcard< Early reactions: Vanessa "wildcard" Baker is being thrown to the wolves. Yes, that's some messed up 💩 that she walks into. Still, I don't like how she handles it, but I'm trusting Nikki to make me love her and Lorenzo Russo. -- Book quote 'She saunters away, and I can’t help but watch her as she goes. I might not be the type to have one-night stands, but I can still appreciate her from a distance. And fuck is there a lot to appreciate.' -- Lorenzo Russo As much as I don't like the deception that starts their relationship, it isn't long before I'm forgetting about it and become invested in this family. The way baby Leo takes to her and vice versa makes my heart melt. And I absolutely love how she and Lorenzo build a relationship - one game of blackjack or soak in the hot tub at a time. I like that karma comes to collect from a few folks. It really couldn't have happened to more deserving people. I listened to the audio book. The narrators, Leanne Woodward and Theo Sinclair, are really good and easy to listen to. Book cover Title: Beautiful Betrayal Author: Nikki Ash, USA Today bestselling author Performed by: Duncan Prescott & Marie Hawkins *****Book review***** >"Ride Me, Queen"< This starts in a very, very dark place, reliving two horrific, extremely traumatizing events that Brielle (princess) Antonov had forced upon her. The flashbacks are realistic, and the fear is palpable. These are definite reasons to check your triggers. I've been reading the series in order - not a requirement but strongly recommended - and knew about them, but it still has the potential to mess with a person. Oh, I so want to hate Kane Morgan. I mean, he's the devil's relation. It's really unnerving that liking him is so much easier. 😉 I should probably have my head checked, but he gives her control when he realizes he needs it. 😍🔥 Sure, he can be a bossy SOB, but the ways he shows up are great. -- Book quote 'I'm falling in love with my husband, and I think I'm actually OK with that.' -- Brielle Antonov Morgan There's a plot twist (or two) that surprises me, but I like how it all comes together. Again, I recommend you read this series in order for the best understanding and enjoyment, but if you can go solo on this. I listened to the audio book. While I wish the narrators were in duet, I really enjoyed listening to Marie Hawkins and Duncan Prescott. 🎧❤️🎧 Story: 4 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H = 30s?; h = 27 >TROPES & TRIGGERS:< 🖤 Dark romance ❤️ Not allergic to 🐈 🖤 R@pe - past event w limited details ❤️ Sizzling chemistry 🌶 🖤 Soft for her, loved ones ❤️ Power dynamics 🖤 Sexual assault ❤️ Morally gray 🖤 Forced loss of pregnancy From the author: If you or someone you know has been sexually assaulted, help is available: https://rainn.org/resources

Book cover Title: Sweetest Sin Author: Nikki Ash, USA Today bestselling author Performed by: Marina Barrett and Walker Williams *****Book review***** >Man on a Mission< From the beginning, I like the connection Dominick (Dom) Antonov and Peyton (Peaches) seem to share. Her life's a mess, and his ain't much better. Even with a betrothal that he despises looming in the near future, I like how he gives himself permission to enjoy what little time he's able to take with her. As mentioned, Peyton's got some baggage. It's a sad but common set of circumstances. My heart goes out to anyone in that scenario. Of course, Dominick is sporting his own trauma and can relate to Peyton on a deeper level. -- Book quote 'As much as we’d prefer to have our own places, in order to keep Mom safe from our asshole father, we still live at home, knowing he won’t touch her while we’re here now that we’re capable of knocking him on his ass if he lays a finger on her.' -- Dominick Antonov Dominick is far from a saint, but I love that his protectiveness, especially for abused and exploited women, is deeply rooted. Maybe he takes it a touch too far on occasion, but he's well intentioned... mostly. I do love that Peyton does set some boundaries and gets him to bend. It's infrequent, but it does happen. 😁 As this is Mafia / Bratva related, violence and other dark elements are expected. We also get discussions about off-screen actions which include domestic violence, grape, and forced loss of pregnancy. One more notable item: this ends with a cliffhanger. The couple kind of gets an HEA, but we have to stay tuned for other elements to play out. I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators, Walker Williams and Marina Barrett, are good. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've listened to Walker. I'm happy with both of their performances. 🎧❤️🎧 Story: 4 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H = 31/35; h = 20s

I like that the characters' personalities and backgrounds vary greatly. I also love the found family they create. Some of them come from wonderful families that are frequently around, but it's still amazing to have that extra love and support. One of the best parts, though, is the kids. They are fierce, funny, and amazing little people. Bella is possibly the most entertaining of them. She's quite the spitfire! 🤣🤣 Of course, some of them get their stories in the spin-off series. 🥳 I have the audio as well as the book. Book cover Title: Deadliest Desire Author: Nikki Ash, USA Today bestselling author Performed by: Gideon Frost & Mia Tucker *****Book review***** >Very Twisty, Very Steamy< The darkness in this dark romance hits earlier than I was prepared for, but it is really freaking good. (Please check the triggers before picking up - ☠️, SA, etc.) I may not love what happened to Matteo Antonov at the hands of his father, but I do love how others stepped up in big and little ways, including his teacher who indirectly helped him find an outlet for some of his aggression. As important that was in developing the man he became, I equally love how Daniella (Dani, Little Russo) Russo researched other things that might help and never once made him feel bad for it. Just thinking about it makes my heart melt all over again. I love how absolutely dirty things get. Dani and Matteo are 🔥 when they aren't fighting for their lives. Another thing I love is that they have many obstacles to overcome, but not once does her brother, his best friend, become one of them. Lorenzo's response to it is absolutely perfect! This leaves off with a slight cliffhanger. It looks like Brielle has trouble heading her way. I can't wait to see where it goes! I listened to the audio book. The narrators, Mia Tucker and Gideon Frost, are so good. I really love listening to them. Listening in duet would be the cherry on top, but that's not in the cards this time. 🎧🩵🎧 Story: 4.5 stars Narration: 4 stars Listening Speed: 1.8x H = 35; h = 22

(Book cover) Title: Knocked Down Author: Nikki Ash, USA Today bestselling author Performed by: Duncan Prescott and Marlaina Garrett (Book review) >Tacos, Toys, and New Neighbors< I'm here for the instant sparks between Griffin King and Ava Milano when Griffin and Levi move in next door to Ava. Admittedly, I like that dates with others occur when they aren't in a relationship. It's realistic and appreciated. -- Book quote 'I stifle a laugh at how adorable this woman is mad. ... Her tank top reads, “If you hate tacos, I’m nacho type.”' -- Griffin King As much as I like the love story, I'm torn between the punny taco t-shirts and the insta-love between eight-year-old Levi and mischief making pup Maverick as my favorite part of this. There's also the "sword" fight with 🍆 toys that Ava sells as a side hustle that is priceless. The puns and "sword" fight are hilarious, but the love between a boy and (not) his dog.... Fine, Levi and Maverick win that title. 🙎‍♂️🐶 I get being affected by multiple cheating exes, but it may have been harped on too much for my liking. OK, it was too much for me. She acknowledges that they really were duds, and she should've moved on sooner. In my opinion, the issues it causes are a little overdrawn. It's the only thing that really didn't work for me. Book cover Title: Unbroken Promises Author: Nikki Ash, USA Today bestselling author Performed by: Duncan Prescott, Marina Barrett, & Theo Sinclair *****Book review***** The Curveballs of Life This is an emotional rollercoaster from page one. How many times in one book can I allow my heart to be broken? It turns out that the answer is higher than I'll admit. 😭🤧😭 The death of several loved ones is the biggest contributor to my heartache. Still, the love that starts as friendship and morphs over several years between Xander Thompson, Delilah Cross, and Cole Andrews is sweet and innocent, which leads to some excellently steamy times.
“I have to get a mastectomy on Monday. I’m going to have a breast removed before I’ve even gone out on a date. My hair is going to fall out from the chemo and no guy is going to want to date me...if I survive.” -- Delilah Cross
I love and hate how this ends. I can't think of a way to describe it without saying too much, so if you're curious about it, I'd recommend reading yourself. The narrators, Theo Sinclair, Duncan Prescott, and Marina Barrett, do a wonderful job. I really do wish this was in duet, though. (Book cover) Title: Finding Prince Charming Author: Nikki Ash, USA Today bestselling author Performed by: Cecily Foster and Christian Leatherman (Book review) >Traveling Bug< Natalie Zapata and King William "Liam" of Luxembourg definitely have a non-traditional meet-cute with her being a madam and everything. I do like how things go that first weekend. It's cute and sweet and steamy. -- Book quote 'His gaze meets mine, and he slowly rakes his eyes down my body. Usually when men do this, I feel objectified, but with this guy, it feels different. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because it doesn’t feel like he’s checking me out as if I’m a piece of meat, but instead drinking me in, like he’s thirsty and is dying for a sip.' -- Natalie Zapata There's a bit of a lull in the middle as the foundation for what comes next was laid out. I feel like this ended right when it was starting to get good again. A little inner circle drama, a race to correct a misunderstanding, and *BAM!* it's over. 😭 Also, this is a huge departure from Gio & Aria's story. Yes, Natalie here is the same one in that book. We get about two pages of her horrid ordeal with the late Senator (which can be triggering for some) and other refreshers from that book (at least one isn't completely correct). It's enough that some might see it as too much of a spoiler, but I digress. Other than some catty BS that was completely predictable, the darkness and angst were missing. I don't need those things or generally expect them from Nikki Ash, but after book one, I did expect more of the same here. If it weren't for La Stella's, I might have thought they weren't tied in the same series. Anyway, those are my two cents on this. If you don't like dark romance, skip book one and chapter 2, and you'll probably enjoy this. I do like it, but if you're coming off the other book like me and expect more of the same / similar, well, see above. I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators, Christian Leatherman and Cecily Foster, are great. Christian's accent is yum, and Cecily brings the emotions to life well. Story: 3.5 st…
