#Ningauble
Fafhrd, a northern barbarian, trying not to misgender the sorcerer Ningauble of the Seven Eyes in Fritz Leiber’s 1939 story The Jewels in the Forest.

Reading some Lankhmar and I think Ningauble of the Seven Eyes might quite possibly be my favourite deity ever.

My fan casting for a hypothetical "Swords Against" movie...

Fafhrd: Alan Ritchson
Grey Mouser: Daniel Radcliffe (in full weird-little-guy mode)
Sheelba: Tilda Swinton
Ningauble: Mark Hamill

Big Ningauble vibes on this MF.

Ich find's nett, dass sich Ed Emshwiller ausgerechnet den Siebenäugigen Ningauble als Motiv für seine Cover-Illustration zu "Adept's Gambit" ausgesucht hat. #FafhrdAndTheGrayMouser

Optimist: the cup is half full

Pessimist: the cup is half empty

Fritz Leiber: Sundered from us by the gulfs of time and stranger dimensions is the cup. The mystic incantations of Ningauble intimate that it is neither empty nor full. Sheelba of the Eyeless Face wipes her mouth and makes no remark.
Optimist: the cup is half full

Pessimist: the cup is half empty

Raymond Chandler: I paid a dime for a coffee and after waiting an hour for my client, there was a nickel left - a cold nickel. Then I remembered there was half a bottle of whisky back at the office. I gave up and went there instead.
Optimist: the cup is half full

Pessimist: the cup is half empty

Jane Austen: It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single cup of good china is in want of tea.

I was never a big fan of Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser but wasn’t the a Ningauble (or something like that) of the Thousand eyes (the number may vary) who was one of their mentors?
Me - "My clients know me so well!"

Them - "Why? Did they hire you to draw 10 thousand rats in a trench coat or something?"

Me - "... what an oddly specific thing you just suggested. Why would that be your first thought?"

Amusing thought: Leiber’s wizards accidentally summon Elric and Moonglum instead of Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser.

Ningauble: “Are you sure you got the right ones?”

Sheelba: “one’s short with two swords, the other’s tall and has a gloomy disposition, it’s fine.”

Elric: “What is this chaos shit”

Can’t stop thinking on this. Vincent Price as Ningauble of the Seven Eyes (or Edward G Robinson if Vince is booked already)!

Ningauble of the Seven Eyes and Sheelba of the Eyeless Face are not just all timer wizard names, but the descriptions of Ningauble are some of my favourites. Just a lumpy hood with half a dozen luminous eyeballs bouncing around inside it, making sassy remarks about the cost of potion ingredients.

Ningauble of the Seven Eyes

Cleaning my desktop and found this little animation I did while re-reading Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser.

"He who lies artistically, treads closer to the truth than ever he knows." - Ningauble of the Seven Eyes. ("Adept's Gambit", Fritz Leiber, written 1936, first published 1947).

Reminiscent of a certain character from Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, Ningauble of the Seven Eyes.

Nice Ningauble reference!

I think Mark is Fafhrd and Johnson is Ningauble

Oh shit, is that Sheelba & Ningauble and F&TGM themselves??
