#NonInterventionism
Right, should Vance become the next president, it would presumably be a victory for noninterventionism, assuming he's actually committed to it, unlike Trump, who's betrayed this constituency with the war in Iran.

The arrogance of Walsh and his ilk is unrivaled.
Also, it is amazing that "America First" went from being about noninterventionism (a la Rand Paul and believe it or not, Marjorie Taylor Greene) to American Empire.
Prominent MAGA figures are making it 100% explicit that MAGA is a neo-imperialist movement that's all about pillage and plunder justified by assumed racial superiority:

This is not the “noninterventionism” they’ll be touting at TAC and other dark paleo corners. This is Trump degrading civil liberties at home and bragging about it abroad.

The Iran war has turned the dynamic on its head. Trump has decisively sided with the hawks. And unlike his previous saber-rattling moves, this war is difficult to square with noninterventionism. (A)

Why was Abe Lincoln called "spotty"? When "war is a racket", we don't mean tennis! How did Guantanamo Bay come to host a US naval base? Where, exactly, did the Rough Riders ride? A man, a plan, a canal—noninterventionism? Not quite. etc.

My friend @jasonleebyas.bsky.social has a new book chapter out that makes a radical individualist case for anti-war ideas.

Too often, arguments against foreign intervention rest on national sovereignty.

Both nationalism & war undermine individual sovereignty.

It is not helpful to generate a contrast between noninterventionism and neoconservativism.

If neoconservativism is to mean anything it must be about a specific movement, its ideas, and its advocates.

Neo-neoconservative replaces analysis of many kinds of (non-)interventionism w a hypocrisy claim

if we had any memory, we'd recall 1999-2000 w. bush ran on noninterventionism/no more nationbuilding. & then like trump, he reneged.

People remember this less, but the outgoing chief epidemiologist auditioned for this position via numerous appearances in the media. He was selected mostly based on his position of largely noninterventionism throughout the pandemic, which was a continuation of Tegnell's contrarian approach.
He anyway did all his auditions for the chief epidemiologist position via the media, so this was expected of him, the fact that any separation of his employer from him will become a scandal that will involve the media.
What did they expect when they employed a guy who said nonsense in the media?

I don't consider noninterventionism to be a leftist position, personally.

Maybe that is a US leftist thing.

Noninterventionism to me is isolationist, maybe libertarian, not leftist.

This lady also seems to have the same policy as Trump.

NY-13 candidate @darializaforny.bsky.social was asked by the NYT editorial board about her past comments on Russia, and if she supports military aid to Ukraine. She said her comments at the start of the war were aimed at critiquing "global systems".

She didn't answer the question about aid.

Trump’s foreign policy isn’t “noninterventionism,” it is a kind of neo neo conservatism devoted to imposing authoritarian ethnonationalism abroad instead of democracy (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

Look at right-wing media: it’s all 2002-03 again, the jingoism spigot at full blast. Trump’s opportunistic ~noninterventionism~ was always paired with belligerence — back in 2016, a promise to kill terrorists *and* their families.

a preference for noninterventionism and an aversion to war does not mean that sometimes you don't always get what you want

Amid the digressions and lack of discipline in President Trump's speech, there were nuggets that shifted fundamental foreign policy and addressed unanswered questions about the president’s intentions in the Middle East.

The president's trip to the Middle East showed that his go-along, get-along version of noninterventionism is ascendant—especially if there's money to be made.

The whole “peace = let Putin cook” argument is completely warmed over 1940–41 noninterventionism, and somehow instead of that analogy being persuasive that appeasing Putin is bad, they’re persuaded that appeasing Hitler is good

How far from Trump's alleged noninterventionism. First-strike war. Capturing a chief executive. With no idea where it all will lead. Such a short road from the US as a country widely emulated to a rogue state with no concern for international law or the rules of war. edition.cnn.com/world/live-n...

…have more complicated definitions. Using whatever “fascist minimum” checklist we choose, Trump definitely checks most of the boxes. One box that has seemed unchecked, however, is the militaristic drive for expansion and empire. Trump’s “America First” noninterventionism appears to be… 3/7
