Hers how to turn off the new Google Gemini Workspace admin features:
1. Log into your Google Admin console
2. Twirl down the Generate AI option in the left sidebar.
3. Select Gemini for Workspace underneath.
4. Turn all of the ON features to OFF (1/2)

So Georgetown University blocks Gemini and NotebookLLM, as if none of its students or faculty have personal gmail accounts.
NotebookLM seems like the perfect design for generative AI. You limit the source material and it produces material based on those sources. They just added the slide deck feature and I'm floored at how good it is.

It plagued NotebookLLM already: you end up with a mix of credible sources with marketing slop not really knowing which is which. An immediate fix would be to restrict to academic sources but then you’re going to discover it: relevancy is highly context dependent.

Vibe check: working from a cafe this morning and every other person sitting at the 'work table' (the long table with the power sockets) has an LLM interface open on their main window. ChatGPT, Claude Code, one's NotebookLLM I think.

My guy just taught the absolute pants off of a very, boring subject (staining slides for microscopy), made it interesting and engaging, then showed how he uses chatGPT and notebookLLM to make practice tests while my entire skeleton ejected from my body, from the lab itself, entered an astral plane

The example in the NYT article is especially absurd. If your job is to chew through OCRed public domain works to produce a book for wider audiences with an edgy take, NotebookLLM might give you „a twist“. A professional historian doesn’t lack „twists“, but time and funding for proper scholarship
