HMGA Chromatin Remodeling and Cellular Senescence: A Bibliometric Perspective on an Emerging Mechanistic Interface A decade-long survey of PubMed-indexed publications at the intersection of HMGA chromatin remodeling and cellular senescence reveals a field that has undergone a punctuated rather than linear trajectory of scholarly output. The aggregate data (n = 45 publications, 2015–2024) warrant careful mechanistic interpretation rather than superficial trend extrapolation. The period from 2015 to 2016 (n = 1 per year) represents foundational or incidental coverage, likely reflecting the residual literature on HMGA1 and HMGA2 as architectural transcription factors without systematic integration into senescence-specific frameworks. The sharp quintupling of output between 2016 and 2017 (1 to 5) is consistent with a conceptual inflection point, most plausibly coinciding with consolidating evidence that HMGA proteins function as senescence-associated heterochromatin domain (SAHD) regulators. Specifically, the documented displacement of HMGA2 from chromatin during oncogene-induced senescence, and its reciprocal role in maintaining or disrupting constitutive heterochromatin organization at pericentric regions, would have generated sufficient mechanistic traction to sustain parallel investigative programs across multiple laboratories. The plateau observed across 2017–2019 (5, 5, 4 publications) is mechanistically interpretable as a period of experimental consolidation rather than conceptual exhaustion.
