👀 Zero code changes, better observability!

A big thank you to Kemal Akkoyun for exploring zero-touch instrumentation in Go, from different approaches to their impact on performance, stability, and security.

#Claude Platform can send #OpenTelemetry traces from the Messages API, Claude Managed Agents, and the Claude SDKs to your observability stack.
Kudos to the Claude team for adopting open observability strategy with #OTel!

but that’s fine because we don’t need to “fully understand” a system if we have the necessary telemetry and observability to understand system state and behavior post-facto

The problem is trusting the harness. You need observability and use that observability to improve the harness automatically via RSI.

The amount of times I've seen agents go down a rabbit hole that has nothing to do with the user request is basically all the time.

You need steering.

AI observability should answer three questions: what changed, where did the output come from, and when should a person step in? Useful monitoring connects model behavior to real workflow outcomes. #AI #MLOps

One AI coding agent run generated 300 metric series across 25 sessions.

Adnan Rahic demonstrates how stripping per-session identity in the OpenTelemetry Collector cuts cardinality to 12 series while preserving operational signal.

IME the models, as much as I love them, are better at papering over catastrophic issues with a system than a Brezhnev era factory manager to a planner. They probably had basically no observability on what the architecture looked like and did.
