Why is one force able to do this when others aren’t? #OpSnap
My local police force sends Notices of Intended Prosecutions to all drivers committing close passes on cyclists.
1000s of them each year.
The close-pass rate in my area has dropped dramatically.
I wonder if that's connected?

South Yorkshire Police don't ask for W3W or a map location, but unfortunately that means it's harder for them to identify incident hotspots from OpSnap reports. I'm going to suggest that they include an (optional) map location on the report.

I would love to see OpSnap extended and all forces run it. It's an easy quick and cheap win.

While my #OpSnap submissions tend to prioritise "dangerous" and "careless" driving, I'll increasingly submit "inconsiderate". I'm sick of being treated with disdain, by too many drivers, and I'm happy for them to learn some manners.

It irritates me a little that the country isn't making the most out of #opsnap.
It's clearly a very useful tool and yet some forces seem to be very reluctant.

West Midlands Police have also fined obstructive parking following an OpSnap report of mine. Still not towed, obviously, but better than nothing.

Ooh my Dad got a NIP for passing a cyclist too close. Gonna pop round his and see what the other side of #OpSnap looks like (I’ve only ever submitted to it). No sympathy for him btw, I must have mentioned the 1.5m to him a hundred times and warned that a good proportion of us have cameras! #Cycling

We need to be able to report these plates via the opsnap portal.
The problem is that currently it's a £100 and zero points so barely of consequence for what is a blatant attempt to cheat justice.

Dodgy number plates almost always is a good indicator of other concerns in my experience.
PHV Drivers get very upset if you send a photo of them to the licensing authority as well as OpSnap.

DD12GGD - 23/07/2026. It was very surprising that @gmpolice.bsky.social #opsnap decided No Further Action against this van driver who close passed me across a double white line, forcing an oncoming HGV driver into the kerb to avoid a head-on collision. #dangerousdriving

For those who live in the West Midlands, report any driver whose parking obstructs the walkway on the OpSnap portal. The police fine the driver. It’s changed parking behaviour in my neighbourhood.
