Every organisation is aligned — the question is to what. Most pursue conformity (looking consistent) instead of coherence. The Law of #Alignment: the design job isn't to create alignment. It's to redirect alignment that already exists.

The question is not whether a role sounds modern.
It is whether the pay, authority, time, and capability behind it are real.

Many apparent motivation problems are coordination problems. When priorities, responsibilities, information, and decision processes are unclear, disengagement may be an outcome rather than the cause. The diagnosis matters because the remedies are different.

Uber: 95% of engineers on AI, ~70% of code machine-generated, budget gone by April. Its COO can't tie it to a customer outcome.

A person can own a decision only if the decision is reachable.
Give someone responsibility without authority and the organisation has created a target, not an owner.

AI didn't break the three-box HR model. It dissolved the three problems that built it — and left the boxes standing.

The question isn't what replaces them. It's who owns the design logic.
