When we say overregulation kills housing projects, this is what we mean
CM Nagengast now says he wants Mercy Housing to provide a 24 hour shuttle service. What the fuck.

Rep. Feenstra is getting pushback from fellow conservatives for saying voucher schools should accept everyone.

They call it “overregulation.”

It would directly contradict their whole point for vouchers if private schools couldn’t turn some kids away.

99% of Iowa private schoolers are now funded by taxpayer vouchers. Other states approaching that number.

Voucher schools are simply government-funded contractors.

Of course they should admit all students. But that was never the point of vouchers.

We need to re-legalize the very cheap, bare bones housing that keeps people off the street.

More broadly, we need policymakers to be ok with letting people build types of housing that they would not particularly want to live in.
Cheap Rooms Once Prevented Homelessness. We Need Them Back.
Inexpensive single-room-occupancy dwellings were common in America decades ago, but overregulation has driven them from the housing market.

Massachusetts won’t solve its housing crisis by nibbling around the edges. Decades of overregulation across zoning, permitting, and building codes have suppressed housing production. We need systemic reform.

No one is rooting for overregulation, but the Trump admin's cuts to vital protections on our food, healthcare, environment, and economy put everyday Americans at risk & allows corporations to go unchecked. Fmr. FDIC Chair Sheila Bair will explain @ 11aET why some regulations are essential #Velshi

Assemblymember Patterson, a strong pro-housing Republican, notes that local control is often local tyranny. (Especially in the case of HOAs!) Local overregulation is driving the shortage.

I love California, and I don’t like people shading my state.

Blaming the LA Fires on “overregulation” isn’t just a bogus attack—it dishonors the thousands who lost their lives and livelihoods in these fires.

Work requirements are one good argument against government overregulation -- extra paperwork that saves no money, yields worse results, and just tortures the people who work the hardest.

Unfortunately, that's why Republicans love them.

Yes, overregulation of chicken farming has been the only thing keeping Bill and me from raising chickens in our backyard.

“Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins also encouraged Americans to produce their own eggs…. We also want to make it easier for families to raise backyard chickens…”

I found this pretty persuasive. Maybe there's some evidence of real harm from the current regulatory status quo but doesn't really seem to be.

Instead, we have become the world champion of overregulation. That has to end.

Clearly overregulation
In a horrifying article about the dangers of Teslas, one point stands out: Teslas automatically disengage self-driving mode <1 second before an imminent crash--not enough time for the driver to react, but enough for Tesla to deny responsibility for fatal crashes, since self-driving "wasn't engaged."

Fantastic new OECD data comparing international subsidies in key sectors.

"For Chinese firms, almost 60% of their global market share gains can be explained by the subsidies received."

Worth keeping in mind when people insist Europe’s competitiveness problem is mainly about overregulation.
