#Oweynagat
Oweynagat has acquired a title screen.

This probably means it is too late to turn back. 🖤

The cave is asking what brings you to the mouth:
SEEK · BARGAIN · UNBIND

What would you choose? 🖤❤️

"In recent memory, the cave was known as the entrance to the underworld where, at Hallowe’en each year, it served as a portal to and from hell."

And here I thought the doors to Heathrow were the portal to hell!

Ha, a very informed question!
An article about this together with Daniel Curley, Mike McCarthy, Frank McDermott and John Waddell, in which I discuss the question of the Oweynagat ogams, has been submitted to a journal recently.
Summary: no, I think the ogam inscriptions are genuinely old...

Do you think that might be a similar case with the Oweynagat ogham too?

Rathcroghan and Oweynagat - one of our first Wild Gees adventures and such an amazing, literally immersive, experience of archaeology and heritage, myth and prehistory. The guides are fantastic storytellers, as is the case in many Irish heritage sites

Today, I wanted to celebrate Éire - Ireland - by sharing some photos I've taken there.

Ireland helped shape my early photography journey and my early spiritual journey - for which I will always be grateful.

I have always been intrigued by legends like Bricriu's Feast, where one of Cú Chulainn's heroic feats was taming supernatural cats that emerged from Oweynagat Cave in Co. Roscommon (the Cave of the Cats).

Could these cats be an echo of cultural memory of wildcats or lynx?

Ireland's Oweynagat cave - the "gate to hell", is where Halloween began 2,000 years ago.

Celts wore costumes to avoid demons escaping during Samhain.

Now it's a hidden field with sheep.

Samhain began in Ireland at Oweynagat, a cave believed to be a portal to the Otherworld, through which Spirits may journey into this world when the veil is thin.

Happy Samhain.
In an often muddy field near the medieval town of Tulsk in County Roscommon, Ireland, and within the ancient Rathcroghan ritual complex, lies a cave known as Oweynagat.

Oweynagat (pronounced Oen-na-gat), translated from Irish, means Cave of the Cats. The Rathcroghan Visitor […]
